Green Gifts, maybe a little last minute :-)

December 10th, 2007

Been doing some research searching for fun green gifts. This guide, given to me by a friend has some great stuff in it for the discerning gift giver :-)

A few other good websites:

http://www.consciencetees.com - Organic cotton with a cause, woohoo!

http://www.bigdipperwaxworks.com - Beeswax candles burn cleaner, contain no petroleum products and last longer

http://www.veregoods.com - Sustainably grown, pesticide free chocolate awesome

I am also a huge fan of The Body Shop and all of their great bath and body products.

Feel free to do your own green research, and share what you find for good green gift giving, I always like finding new places to shop on-line and let my fingers do the browsing :-)

Sorry to be late, but let’s green the holidays!

December 1st, 2007

Well now that is officially December I thought is might be a good idea to get out some posts on how you can green your holiday.

One of the first things that I would like to talk about is holiday greetings. For those of us who like to send our friends and family a happy hello during the holidays I thought that this year would be a good time to change from standard greeting cards to a greener and more socially responsible alternative.

One of my favorite alternative is sending an on-line card. You often have to deal with annoying ads on the pages, and have to make sure that you don’t check the box to get e-mail updates, but I think they are pretty worth it.  This site is a good one. You can also pay a monthy or yearly fee and become a member so you can send e-cards all year. Also a very good idea. A good one for getting a membership is www.bluemountain.com

Another good idea for holiday greetings is to switch to recycled paper cards. These are available in most stores where cards are sold, but usually they are located in a very small section. Ordering on-line is a better option if you want some selection. Also, many of these cards are also socially conscious. Good Cause Greetings will let you choose the charity you support and women craft not only uses almost entirely recycled content and provides and industry enterprise for disadvantaged women in the Chicago area. Here are those two sites and and couple others for you to check out :-)

Now I know its a little on the late side for these to go out this year, but if you haven’t gotten the cards out yet, please consider these options!

Look for a green shopping guide in the next few days! I promise, it will only be a few days this time :-)
